Abstract:Medical practice is the primary vehicle for the expression of medical humanities. Only through the medical practice that the value of medical humanities can be truly realized. Drawing on its extensive experience in providing medical humanities services, Guangdong Medical University Shunde Women and Children's Hospital has developed a comprehensive model in order to deliver humanistic care within a medical context. This model not only includes a 5C service team, which is composed of doctors(Cure), nurses(Care), social workers(Casework), community representatives (Community) and charitable organizations (Charity), but also a 4A service process. The 4A process includes adaptation (Adapt) upon admission, companionship (Accompany) during hospitalization, encouragement (Arouse) before discharging, and attentive support and care (Attentive) after discharging. This is a medical humanities clinical pathway guided by medical service institutions, which aiming to provide the proactive services that are "health-centered and patient-centered" for patients, thereby enhancing their healthcare experiences and a more humanistic warmth of medical services. The implementation of this model has effectively enhanced patients' satisfaction, treatment confidence and compliance. It is also positively impacting the efficiency of medical services and the overall brand influence of the hospital. This article summarizes and elucidates practical experiences and implementation paths, aiming to provide valuable reference for the future development direction and innovative path of humanistic care in medical services.
