Abstract:This study aims to apply the theory of character strengths from positive psychology to interpret the traditional moral code of “benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness”, thereby exploring novel avenues for medical humanities education. Through literature review and theoretical analysis, the “benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trustworthiness” (known as the “Five Constants” of Confucianism) in traditional Chinese culture and their important value in modern medical humanities education were elaborated. Then Five Constants were interpreted based on character strengths and analyzed for their inherent connection. On this basis, a medical humanities education model that integrates Five Constants with character strengths was proposed to cultivate the personality of medical students, thereby enhancing their empathy, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and reflective practical abilities. This innovative approach not only enriches the theoretical connotation of medical humanities education, but also provides new ideas and new methods for the practical implementation of medical education.
