Abstract:The “Action Plan for Improving Medical Humanistic Care (2024-2027)”, issued by the National Health Commission, represents a significant advancement in enhancing the quality of medical services and reinforcing the principles of medical humanistic care in China. This initiative underscores the critical importance of fostering humanistic care within the medical field and sets a clear direction for the future of medical practice. By utilizing narrative medicine as a foundational approach, the plan aims to establish a healthy and harmonious narrative ecology within hospitals. This involves cultivating a new generation of physicians equipped with narrative competence and professional narrative skills, which serve as internal motivators for this initiative. Additionally, the plan emphasizes the integration of narrative practices into various aspects of medical leadership, ethics, and the development of the medical humanistic spirit among practitioners. It seeks to enhance the professional narrative capabilities of doctors, build a narrative-driven hospital service brand, and promote the development of new quality productivity within healthcare institutions. By effectively mobilizing diverse developmental elements and coordinating efforts across various departments, the action plan aims to improve the implementation of medical humanistic care. Ultimately, through the empowerment of narrative medicine, this initiative is expected to elevate the level of humanistic care in the medical and health sectors of China, thereby providing the populace with improved and more efficient medical services.
